Online garden centre uses EVs for Christmas tree deliveries

News

Online garden centre The Stem has partnered with rapid delivery specialists Stuart to launch a new Christmas tree delivery service using electric vans.

Deliveries are dispatched from Stuart’s delivery hub in East London and powered by their fleet of 100% electric vans, while The Stem has committed to planting ten new trees for every Christmas tree sold to offset carbon emissions from sourcing the trees.

Customers can place orders directly on The Stem’s website and choose from their range of Nordmann Fir trees grown on an award-winning Devon farm. They can then choose free next day delivery (if ordered before 9AM) and nominated day delivery, which will be fulfilled by Stuart.

Brendan Hamill, Stuart’s UK General Manager, said: “Consumers are increasingly expecting companies across all sectors to offer a fast and flexible delivery service to fit in with their daily lives. We’ve seen this happen most noticeably with groceries in recent months and Christmas trees are no different!”

“That’s why we’re really pleased to partner with The Stem to help people get their festive season started with this 100% sustainable next day delivery service built on our experience of revolutionising rapid delivery across some of Europe’s biggest cities over the past five years.”

James Folger, Founder of The Stem, added: “We're incredibly excited to work with Stuart this year, taking Christmas up a notch in London. People are wanting to shop more consciously, and with sustainability at the heart of our business, we’re offering our customers a 'greener' tree. Not only do they arrive in 100% electric vans but our partnership with Stuart means we can provide next day and scheduled delivery options.

As well as this exceptional service, our trees are grown responsibly on an award-winning farm in Britain, and for each one purchased ten new trees are planted in its place.”
