Indian firm Mahindra sells electric e2o city car to first UK customer online

Businesswoman Stephanie Whittaker has picked up keys to the electric e2o, which she ordered online, at the company’s London headquarters.

Mahindra is the first manufacturer to run its business exclusively online, offering digital sales and aftersales experience for EV consumers.

Speaking at the company’s London headquarters, Stephanie Whittaker said: “I’m delighted to have collected my new e2o this morning and I’m excited to be Mahindra’s first UK customer. It was quite strange purchasing a big ticket item online, but it was actually a very straight forward process.”

Businesswoman, Stephanie, who runs a successful marketing agency in Fulham, went on to say: “I purchased the car for the business as we have a number of clients within a 40-mile radius, so it made sense to buy an electric car suited to city driving. With the burgeoning city traffic, not to mention the damaging effects that car fumes have on the environment, the e2o is the perfect solution for smarter driving.”

Handing the keys over was Mahindra International UK Chief Executive, Steve Parkinson, who said: “We’ve worked hard to develop our online offering and we’re thrilled to see our hard work paying off and benefitting our customers. Stephanie has seen the advantages of driving an electric car in our busy cities, such as not having to pay the London Congestion Charge, free parking, free or subsidised charging points and zero rated annual road tax. With so many benefits on offer, we’re confident that more and more people will opt for electric cars over traditional petrol or diesel engine vehicles.”
“We’ve initially launched our online business model in London, Birmingham, Bristol and Milton Keynes but with the increasing number of people committed to improving their living environments we’re sure to see our reach extend to more UK cities soon.”

The Mahindra e2o is a compact, three-door hatchback that seats four adults and incorporates connected car technologies to improve the city driving and ownership experience. It features include a Remote™ smartphone app, touchscreen infotainment centre, rapid charging, telematics, and Mahindra’s Revive™ remote emergency refuelling system.
