New chargepoints for Newbury and Hungerford

West Berkshire Council has announced new electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints at key locations throughout Newbury, including Pelican Lane, Corn Exchange, Newbury Station, and Northbrook Multi Storey car park. In Hungerford, the council have installed infrastructure at the Council’s Station Road Car Park.
These new chargepoints are fully operational, with the infrastructure at Newbury Station offering a dedicated disable electric vehicle bay and a dedicated disabled electric vehicle charging bay, both available 24 hours and on Saturdays and Sundays.
These EV chargepoints succeed previous installations of new chargepoints at Shaw House in Newbury and Church Street Car Park in Hungerford.
Payments can be made via the ‘Evolt Network’ mobile app, as well as using contactless debit or credit payments. It will cost 44p per kWh to use 22kW chargepoints.
Councillor Stuart Gourley, executive member of environment and highways at West Berkshire Council said: “I’m so pleased to report that we are regularly adding to the public infrastructure to support our residents and visitors to make low-carbon travel and lifestyle decisions.
“These new chargepoints are an important part of the collection of measures we are delivering to help address the climate and ecological emergencies in West Berkshire.
“I’m keen to encourage the use of these chargepoints and for our residents and visitors to feel free to provide us with their feedback so we can continually improve how we support local climate action.”
