GREENFLEET Survey: DUTY OF CARE: EMPLOYEE & ENVIRONMENT

Insight into the modern duty of care pressures faced by fleets.

Research by GREENFLEET, in collaboration with Lytx.

Changing environmental legislation and stricter duty of care responsibilities have added new pressures to the role of fleet management.

The environment is now a dominant consideration for fleets. There has been a string of new policies and targets for decarbonising road transport in recent years. It’s no longer just about lowering emissions; it’s now about achieving “net zero emissions”.

To understand how fleets are adjusting to the current landscape and to identify what they find challenging, GreenFleet, in collaboration with video telematics experts Lytx, surveyed its readers over summer 2019.

  • Those that took part in the survey manage 92,439 vehicles in total

  • 53 per cent of the fleets surveyed are managing the fleet “blind” as they do not use any form of technology or video telematics

  • The most common responses to those who are not actively looking at electric vehicles were that it is not practical - range and vehicle costs
