UK EV charging platform Paua has partnered with charging technology manufacturer Zaptec to launch an integrated charging solution designed to make operating electric fleets simpler.

The partnership aims to bring together charging at employees’ homes, workplaces, fleet depots and public charging locations within a connected system, giving fleet operators greater visibility over how and where their vehicles are charged.

As businesses transition more vehicles to electric power, managing charging across multiple locations has become an increasingly important challenge. Drivers may charge company vehicles at home, at work and on the public network, potentially leaving fleet managers dealing with different payment systems, reimbursement processes and charging data.

The Paua and Zaptec solution aims to bring these elements together.

Zaptec chargers can provide charging-session data to Paua, allowing businesses to calculate home charging costs based on an employee’s electricity tariff. This can then be used to automate reimbursement for business charging rather than relying on estimates or manual expense claims.

Drivers will also be able to use Paua’s charge card and app when using public charging infrastructure.

The partnership could also help businesses expand depot and workplace charging. Zaptec says its Pro charging architecture enables multiple chargers to use a single cable, reducing material requirements by up to 70% and installation labour by more than 60%.

Dynamic load balancing can meanwhile help businesses charge several vehicles simultaneously without automatically requiring expensive upgrades to their electrical infrastructure.

The technology is also designed with future energy requirements in mind, with Zaptec’s Go 2 charger ready for vehicle-to-grid technology.
