Europcar joins TPPL framework for local government contracts
Europcar Mobility Group UK has joined The Procurement Partnership (TPPL) framework to offer flexible and sustainable mobility solutions in the public sector.
With its strong focus on low and zero tailpipe emissions cars and vans which are perfectly aligned to public sector sustainability goals, Europcar can provide the flexibility of rental without the requirement for long-term financial commitments.
Providing National fleet Framework Agreements to members with a wide range of cost effective flexible solutions across vehicle purchase, contract hire and daily rental, TPPL is accessed by many public sector organisations. Whatever the acquisition method, TPPL solutions meet the requirements for any vehicle type a public body may require, including electric vehicles, welfare buses, specialist commercial vehicles, heavy goods vehicles and more.
Europcar’s extensive fleet of petrol and diesel cars and vans, accessible from across the UK and supported by delivery & collection, give public bodies comprehensive choice for their mobility needs. Plus it has made a significant commitment to simplifying electric and hybrid vehicle rental, with the electrification of the majority of its network as well as growing its electrified fleet, with 14% of cars now fully electric or plug-in hybrid – well above the industry average.
Earlier this year, Europcar introduced price parity on electric car and van rental rates for business account customers. Rental rates of electric cars and vans now match their petrol/diesel equivalent, removing price as a hurdle for renting electric. Another industry-leading policy introduced in 2025 means EVs are at least 80% charged at the start of a rental and only require 20% charge on return, helping to overcome customer anxiety about charging an electric vehicle ahead of its return.
“Transport accounts for such a significant proportion of carbon emissions that it is vital everyone in the industry makes meaningful changes as soon as possible,” commented Tom Middleditch, Sustainability spokesperson at Europcar Mobility Group UK.
“At Europcar we are fully committed to helping fleets reduce their environmental impact by enabling them to access a range of low and zero tailpipe emission car and van options. And for the public sector in particular we understand the imperative to reduce emissions as quickly as possible. We are already working with a number of public bodies, providing flexible mobility solutions. We therefore felt the time was right to join TPPL to ensure these organisations can access our services as easily as possible.”
