Charge point manufacturer Rolec EV has announced the launch of a new range of smart EV charging points for the home.

The home chargers will be integrated with the EV.Energy cloud based back office and initially launched as part of Rolec’s popular WallPod EV charging portfolio.

EV HomeSmart will enable the EV driver to control, track and manage the charge point using their mobile phone or any other web enabled device utilising the free EV.Energy app available from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Designed to current 18th Edition BS7671 regulations, specifically for domestic use, EV HomeSmart offers industry standard Mode 3 communication, AC and DC fault protection, and fast charging speeds of 3.6kW (16A) or 7.2kW (32A) via a tethered lead or socket connection.

MD of Rolec EV, Kieron Alsop, commented: "The new WallPod EV HomeSmart unit is a welcome addition to our existing EV charging portfolio and follows quickly on from the recently launched Rolec EV SolarCharge range, which is already proving extremely popular with home owners who have, or plan to have, solar panels.

“WallPod EV HomeSmart has been specifically designed to put the EV driver at the heart of the charging experience and is packed with many new and exciting features.”

EV HomeSmart integrates with user’s electricity provider to charge the EV at the cheapest rate available. Other features include a boost button for immediate charging and charging history including electricity used, energy costs and CO2 saved.

Nick Woolley, MD of EV.Energy, commented: “We’re delighted to have entered into an exclusive partnership with Rolec EV to provide what we believe is the best smart home charging solution available on the market.

“Our ambition is to support the EV driver and provide intuitive charging services that the driver can easily and confidently use to manage their EV charging.”

Woolley continued: “One of the most exciting features of EV HomeSmart is the facility to equip the EV driver with options to use the cheapest, greenest and most suitable EV charging electricity tariffs available.”
