Nissan secures world’s largest electric taxi fleet deal

Volso has secured the world’s largest electric taxi fleet deal with Spanish firm La Ciudad del Taxi, which will see 110 Nissan Leaf 30kWk vehicles on the streets of Madrid.
Europe led the way in the adoption of all-electric taxis, experiencing a 66 per cent volume increase in the last financial year, compared to the global average of 34 per cent.
The UK was Nissan’s biggest market last year, taking delivery of 78 zero-emission Nissan vehicles to be used by tax firms across the country.
Gareth Dunsmore, head of electric vehicles, Nissan Europe said: “Cities across the globe are facing huge challenges in terms of poor air quality and increasing greenhouse emissions. Adding zero emission vehicles such as the Nissan Leaf to taxi services operating in major cities is a vital step to tackling these challenges head on.”
