GREENFLEET webinar to help commercial vehicle fleets decarbonise

As pressure mounts on commercial fleet operators to decarbonise, GREENFLEET will be hosting a webinar focused on helping organisations transition to cleaner vans and trucks without compromising on operational performance.

The online event, Decarbonising Commercial Vehicles, will take place on 16 April and brings together industry experts to explore practical strategies for reducing van and truck fleet emissions.

The UK’s ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vans is set to come into force in 2035, while the government is also planning a phase-out of new non-zero emission heavy goods vehicles weighing up to 26 tonnes by the same year, extending to all new HGVs by 2040. These deadlines are pushing fleet operators to reassess their vehicle strategies.

Rising fuel costs are adding further urgency to the issue. Analysis of RAC Fuel Watch data shows that petrol and diesel prices experienced record monthly increases in March, driven by the conflict in Iran. The average price of unleaded rose by 20p per litre over the course of the month, marking the largest increase on record.

GREENFLEET’s upcoming webinar aims to address these challenges head-on by providing guidance on how fleets can begin their decarbonisation journey in a way that aligns with business needs. Hosted by sustainable transport expert Andy Eastlake, formerly CEO of Zemo Partnership, the session will feature a range of speakers sharing real-world insights and practical solutions.

Among the contributors, Rob Anderson, Senior Manager of EV Solutions at Mitie, will discuss pragmatic approaches to cutting emissions in mixed and commercial fleets, moving beyond a simple “go electric” narrative.

Rosario Surace, EV Charging Specialist at Drax Electric Vehicles, will explore the role of depot infrastructure in enabling fleet electrification, while Stuart Russell, Business Development Director at Europcar, will outline how organisations can build a roadmap towards a net zero commercial fleet.

A representative from Locks 4 Vans will also discuss the topic of van security best practice.

The webinar will conclude with a panel discussion and live Q&A session, where Andy Eastlake will be joined by fellow industry expert Sarah Wixey to chat with the event's speakers, respond to audience questions and analyse poll results gathered during the event.
