Europcar adds greater choice for electric vans to fleet

News

Europcar Mobility Group UK is expanding its e-van fleet with vehicles in a range of sizes to meet all business needs.

New models joining the electric van fleet include the Vauxhall Combo and Renault Kangoo, Mercedes-Benz e-Vito, Vauxhall Vivaro, Peugeot Expert and Ford Custom.

As discussed in a new white paper, ‘Van electrification: understanding barriers, identifying solutions’, a Europcar survey found that 39% of fleet operators do not have e-vans on fleet. 38% of these respondents said this was because they do not consider electric vans to be fit for purpose. 46% said they would add e-vans to their fleet if they had a longer range. With the increase in Clean Air and Zero Emissions zones around UK cities, Europcar is committed to making a wide range of electric vehicle options available.

“We have found that when van users rent electric for the first time, most of their previous concerns and anxieties are resolved,” commented Keith Shorter, Director, Europcar Vans and Trucks. “We have boosted our e-van fleet to help more drivers and fleet managers benefit from this real-world experience of electric driving, without the commitment of buying or long-term leasing a vehicle with which they are unfamiliar. Increasing the breadth of choice and growing the fleet to increase vehicle availability at a wider range of locations across our network will help more businesses find out how electric vans can fit into their business.”

Customers renting an electric van also gain access to the full suite of Octopus Electroverse features, including a real-time charger map with availability, speed and cost details as well as route planning functionality based on range and chargers along the route.

Keith Shorter continued: “Our growing fleet of electric vans, complemented by expert support at every stage of the rental, is helping commercial vehicle drivers confidently switch to greener mobility.”
