Welcome to this issue of GREENFLEET, which focuses on the challenging task of decarbonising commercial vehicles.

With electrification still some way off from being viable for HGV operators, we explore the options of using sustainable drop-in fuels like HVO and biomethane  that offer an immediate route to reduced emissions. 

On the battery-electric front, the government's extension of the Plug-in Van and Truck Grant to at least 2027, alongside new support for depot charging, gives operators more confidence to invest. We unpack how fleets can tap into these schemes.

And finally, we take a deep dive into the projects that are putting zero-emission HGVs on the roads with real fleets, along with the charging infrastructure to make them viable at scale.
