Fleets invited to take part in Brake's Road Safety Week 2020

News

Road Safety Week, run by road safety charity Brake takes place from 16-22 November 2020, gives fleet organisations the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to road safety to staff, customers, and local communities.

This year’s theme is No Need to Speed, a subject chosen following the findings in a Brake survey that only a quarter of people believe that vehicles travel at safe speeds on the street where they live.

Everyone with a passion for road safety is invited to register at roadsafetyweek.org.uk for a free action pack which includes: Support on how to improve road safety culture at work; New driver guidance on speed; Videos and factsheets; Free tools and posters to display; Giant banners and vehicle stickers for sale; and Engaging fundraising activities to support victims of road death and injury.

“Road Safety Week provides us with an important focal point to engage our staff, whether they drive fleet vehicles or for personal use. With so many ways to take part, it helps us show staff, customers and the local communities we serve, that road safety is embedded into our culture.” Mark Bromhall, Road Safety Manager, Royal Mail Group

“Road Safety Week provides a unique opportunity, every year, to focus attention on how the safety of our roads impacts all our daily lives. Speed plays a part in every crash and just 1mph can mean the difference between life and death on the roads. This Road Safety Week we want to help everyone understand why speed matters and to join together to say there is ‘no need to speed’ on our roads.” Joshua Harris, Director of Campaigns, Brake

Road Safety week is supported by the Department for Transport and headline sponsors DHL and Specsavers.
