Webfleet to offset carbon emissions of EV Rally for a third year

News

For the third year, Webfleet – Bridgestone’s globally trusted fleet management solution, has committed to positively offsetting the carbon emissions of vehicles participating in the 2024 EV Rally.

The five-day rally from 1-5 July will showcase UK charging infrastructure and the pivotal role electric vehicles (EVs) can play in fleet operations. Participating vehicles will feature Webfleet Link devices to gain vital data insights.

Despite the absence of tailpipe emissions from battery EVs, a CO2 footprint arises from the electricity used for vehicle charging.

To offset this, event sponsor and technology partner Webfleet has joined forces with Justdiggit to remove a predicted 127 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere through the Green Your Fleet programme.

The initiative is predicted to help regreen more than 181,768m² of dry land, retain 12,720,000 litres of water, restore more than 660 trees, and positively impact the lives of 63 people in Tanzania, Africa.

“By deploying Webfleet technology for the EV Rally, we are helping shine a spotlight on the powerful role electric vehicles can play in creating a more sustainable future,” said Beverley Wise, Regional Director UK and Ireland, Webfleet.

“This collaboration not only highlights the capabilities of EVs in fleet operations, it also underscores our commitment to the net zero journey.”

Bridgestone Mobility Solutions and Justdiggit are working together to regreen an area in Tanzania the size of 13,761 hectares – equal to 47 times the size of the City of London. The Green Your Fleet programme allows fleet owners to estimate and offset their annual CO2 emissions based on fleet size and type.

The installation of Webfleet in EV Rally vehicles will facilitate live, online progress broadcasts and provide data insights on energy output and driving performance.
