Citroen's updated Dispatch range gains Euro 6.2 engines

News

The 2019 Citroën Dispatch, due to begin production in May, will have new Euro 6.2 engines that comply with the latest WLTP emissions and fuel consumption test requirements, as well as revised options and a revised model range.

Worker and Driver variants of Dispatch have been introduced for the Dispatch, which will provide four trim levels in total: X, Enterprise, Worker and Driver.

Dispatch Worker equipment will include the Moduwork® bulkhead with Load-through flap, dual passenger bench seat with fold-up outer seat and fold-down writing table, ground clearance raised by 20mm, accompanied by a 20mm thick sump guard and enhanced traction modes enabled by introducing Grip Control® as standard. Dispatch Worker models will offer payloads of up to 1,400kgs and will be equipped with 17-inch steel wheels with all season Mud and Snow tyres, improving traction on un-surfaced roads and in poor weather.

Dispatch Driver has been designed for van users who spend a lot of time on the road and would therefore benefit from Citroën’s Advanced Comfort Programme®. Dispatch Driver equipment includes enhanced acoustic and thermal materials designed to improve refinement and offer outstanding comfort, while a range of additional safety and driver assistance options are included as standard equipment. This includes the Safety Pack that incorporates a Lane Departure Warning System, Speed Limit Recognition, Intelligent Speed Adaptation, Driver Attention Alert and smart beam headlights.

Driver Assist Pack is also included, bringing Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Alert and Active Safety Brake. Other standard equipment for Dispatch Driver includes a 7-inch colour touchscreen, providing Citroën Connect Navigation with DAB radio and voice recognition, in addition to the Park Assist 180° pack that includes front and rear parking sensors with blind spot monitoring and 180° rear view camera.

All Dispatch models will be equipped with the Citroën Connect Box as standard equipment, providing emergency call and assistance services. In an impact involving the vehicle, the system makes an automatic call to the appropriate emergency services and can provide the exact location of the vehicle. The system can also be activated manually by pressing the “SOS” button in the cab and is provided free of charge 24/7. Citroën Dispatch drivers can also contact the Citroën support switchboard by pressing and holding the “Double Chevron” button in the cab.

The Connect Box also opens up access to a range of connected services on vehicles fitted with Citroën Connect Nav, removing the need for a tethered Smartphone to provide a data connection. Customers can just sign up for a three-year free Connect Nav subscription offering live traffic, weather, fuel and parking information.

New light commercial vehicles must comply with the Euro 6.2 emissions regulations with effect from September 2019. Dispatch customers will benefit from the latest Euro 6.2 engine range several months in advance. The range starts with the BlueHDi 100 engine, based on the 1.5-litre Euro 6.2 diesel already widely used in the Citroën car range. All Dispatch Euro 6.2 engines are fitted with start and stop (S&S) technology to reduce emissions and fuel consumption, particularly in busy urban traffic.

The more powerful engines in the New Dispatch range are 2.0-litre units, based on the architecture of the previous 2.0-litre Euro 6.1 engines and providing the same power output as before. The range includes the BlueHDi 120 S&S and 150 S&S engines, like the BlueHDi 100 engine, they are combined with a six-speed manual transmission.

As before, the most powerful engine is the BlueHDi 180 S&S, which like the earlier version of the engine is available exclusively with an automatic transmission. Customers choosing this option will also now benefit from latest EAT8 automatic transmission, which provides eight gears instead of six, enabling Citroën’s engineers to optimise fuel consumption and emissions further.

Manufacturers recommended basic prices for Dispatch ranges from £21,320 for the Panel Van X in XS length to £34,035 for the Crew Van Driver in M length.
