HMRC has published new advisory electric rates (AERs) for electric vehicles used for work, effective from 1 March.
The rate for public charging has gone up from 14 to 15 pence per mile, while home charging remains at seven pence per mile.
Home charging reimbursement costs can be worked out using the domestic electricity cost per kilowatt-hour - a government figure, uprated with the latest estimate of electricity prices from the Office for National Statistics.
The ‘slow or fast public charge cost per kilowatt-hour’ is the Zapmap public charging price index monthly published figure for slow or fast chargers (charging speed less than 50 kilowatts), uprated with the latest estimate of electricity prices from the Office for National Statistics.
For journeys where a company car is charged at both public and residential locations, it is advised to apportion the mileage based on how much charging happens at each place.
There are no changes to diesel and petrol mileage reimbursement rates.
