First home EV charger from Octopus Energy

UK heat pump manufacturer Octopus Energy has designed, built and launched its first home EV charger—Octopus Charge.
With the most popular electric vehicle (EV) tariff, customers can charge their vehicles for as little as 2p per mile.
Additionally with Octopus’ innovative Drive Pack traffic, customers can also access unlimited charging for just £30 a month.
Octopus Charge can power their EVs with any surplus solar electricity, which means free, home-grown electricity can be used on the road.
Octopus Energy have announced that the first customers will get 5,000 free miles of driving, which is enough to drive from Land’s End to John o’Groats and back again with miles to spare.
Octopus Charge links with the Octopus Energy app and its tech platform Kraken, charging automatically when electricity is at its greenest and cheapest. Customers just set a charging time and amount, and the tech does the rest.
Octopus Charge is sleek and slim, with built-in 4G and charging cable holster, meaning it can fit easily into tight spaces, like a driveway, a garage, or even on the street.
Octopus Charge is launching with smart integration with Intelligent Octopus Go.
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product officer at Octopus Energy, said: “Charging at home is already better than queueing up at the petrol station—and now we’ve made it even simpler.
“Octopus Energy was the first energy company to launch a smart tariff, an EV tariff, an export tariff, and our very own heat pump. We’re delighted to add Octopus Charge to our stable, initially designed work seamlessly with Intelligent Octopus Go, and with other features to follow shortly.
“Octopus Charge will initially be exclusively available for customers of Octopus’ EV leasing company, Octopus Electric Vehicles, before being launched to all Octopus Energy customers in the coming August.
