FSEW reach their decarbonised fleet milestone

News

Cardiff-based haulier FSEW has reached a major milestone in its mission to decarbonise its road freight by 2025 through the introduction of six new IVECO S-Way CNG trucks, which have replaced the final four diesel trucks in its fleet. The fleet mission is now complete

FSEW’s fleet now encompasses 40 vehicles, 35 of which being IVECO S-Way Natural Gas trucks, which cover over 110,000 miles per year. This reduces CO2 output by 95 per cent compared to an equivalent diesel vehicle when run on biome thane. Since deploying its first CNG truck in 2022, the FSEW fleet has covered 6,700,000 miles using natural gas, saving some eight tonnes of CO2 emissions.

IVECO has various vehicles with natural gas engines across its range, making sure there is a low-carbon option for every need and purpose.

Geoff Tomlinson, managing director of FSEW, said: “We took on a mission of decarbonising our fleet after I read in a newspaper that Cardiff was the fourth-most polluted city in the UK — that was a wake-up call for me. We started decarbonising our fleet in March 2022, and I’m very happy that we’ve now reached our target.

On IVECO S-Way Natural Gas trucks, he added: “We run 35 of these trucks for a reason! They’re comfortable, reliable, and the CNG engine produces power on par with its diesel counterparts. We have a CNG refuelling station a stone’s throw from our depot, so it really is a no-brainer for us to keep using these trucks.”
