Workplace charge scheme take-up rises 50 per cent

The latest DfT data shows that the number of workplace charge points funded by Government  grants has increased by almost 51% year-on-year.

In the previous 12 months to October 1, the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) awarded 5,909 vouchers, worth £5.1 million, to fleets through the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS), helping to install 15,075 electric vehicle (EV) charging devices.   

Since the scheme started in late 2016, a total of 13,603 vouchers worth £13.8m have been redeemed, helping to pay for 36,317 workplace charge points.

As of 1 October 2022, the on street residential device scheme funded 3,281 public charging devices which have been installed across local authorities in the UK.

312 on-street charging devices were installed after being claimed for by the local authorities in the previous 3 months.

Funding has also been awarded for 10,255 additional ORCS charging devices to be installed in the future.
