Green hydrogen HQ announced in Wales

Today (13th December 2024), green hydrogen pioneers Haush Ltd has announced that Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire will be their new HQ as they continue to strive towards their mission of decarbonising land, sea, and air transportation.
Green hydrogen, produced by splitting water through electrolysis using renewable energy sources, creates zero carbon emissions, and is well-suited to transport, especially where conventional batteries fall short due to size, weight, or range limitations. Green hydrogen is especially beneficial for HGV fleets, as fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) powered by hydrogen avoid long charging times that are associated with battery electric vehicles, better suiting them for high-frequency and long-distance operations.
The Welsh government is supporting Haush through the HYBRID SBRI Hydrogen Port Re-Fuelling Project (HyPR), which aims to fast-track hydrogen production and refuelling series for onshore and offshore servicing of vessel fleets. Part of this will be defining a permanent hydrogen refuelling solution for the Port of Milford Haven.
Work on their Fleet Surgeons House HQ will now commence imminently, with the immediate creation of the first jobs and plans to develop an education centre.
Economy, energy and planning cabinet secretary Rebecca Evans, o a tour of the new site, said: “Jobs and green growth are a priority for this Welsh government, so I am delighted Haush has chosen to make Milford Haven the base of its new UK head office.
“The company has ambitious growth plans, which align with our own aspirations to see Wales become a global leader in new renewable energy generation. This investment will be good for our climate and our economy, and will generate quality, skilled jobs.
“Haush has indicated its intention to train local residents to the highest standards for all of the jobs created in Milford Haven, and to expand to the surrounding community the educational aspect of all they do.”
Haush CEO Richard Winterbourne said: “Haust is delighted to be able to make this announcement today, and to be taking this exciting green hydrogen production project forward. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with Welsh government to maximise the training and educational opportunities for the local community, including equipping a future workforce with a transferrable skills set.”
