EDF offers year's worth of free charging with Pod Point

EDF is offering £200 cashback to anyone who signs up to its Pod Point Plug & Power tariff before 26 December, the equivalent of over a year of free driving.
Pod Point Plug & Power is a electric vehicle (EV) home charger and tariff bundle offering drivers the ability to purchase a charger for a lower upfront cost, making it easier and more affordable to make the switch to electric driving.
New and existing customers can sign-up to the tariff to receive a £200 bill credit, which translates to 8,244 free energy miles, giving the average motorist free driving for a year.
The industry-first ‘Pod Point Plug & Power’ bundle offers drivers the ability to purchase a Pod Point Solo 3S charger for an upfront cost of just £499 (RRP £1,099), with the remainder of the cost for the charger spread over two years and integrated into the tariff, giving drivers a more cost-effective way to get a convenient and reliable home charger to charge their EV.
Priced at £2,139, the tariff is backed by zero carbon electricity[iv] and offers cheaper off-peak electricity at 8.49p per kWh from 12am to 5am for both customers home and car, allowing them to save while they sleep.
Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF, said: “The Pod Point Plug & Power tariff already offers drivers lower upfront costs on purchasing a charger, by letting them spread the rest of the cost throughout their two-year tariff. This deal gives customers even lower upfront costs by putting £200 back in their pocket when they sign-up! We’re really pleased to offer drivers yet another great deal to help them save cash, and encourage more to make the switch to electric driving to reduce their carbon footprint.”
EDF partnered with Pod Point, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions to offer the unique bundle. Pod Point recently celebrated becoming the first charging provider to install more than a quarter of a million chargers in the UK.
Rob McGinn, VP of Sales, said: “We’re always looking for ways to make the EV transition as easy and affordable as possible for drivers, and so we’re delighted that our partners EDF are providing an extra incentive on the Pod Point Plug & Power bundle, which provides seamless home EV charging through our award-winning Solo 3S.”
Customers can sign up on EDF’s website, and once signed up, EDF will forward details onto Pod Point to buy the Solo 3S EV charger from £499. The Solo 3S comes with a 5-year warranty and standard installation is included. The Pod Point app also allows users manage their home charging effortlessly from their phone.
To be eligible, customers must have a smart meter and be opted into half hourly meter readings[v]. Once customers have purchased their charger and booked an installation date, EDF will apply the £200 credit to their account within 30 days.
