The transport sector has paid tribute to the Queen, following her passing away yesterday, 7th September, at 96 years old.
Serving as head of state for more than 70 years, Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning monarch, serving as for more than 70 years.
The new Transport Secretary, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, said: "My whole life has been filled with Queen Elizabeth II, a woman of such extraordinary courage and optimism, always radiant and loving, a beacon to us all on what resilience and devotion to duty looks like every single day. Her death is heartbreaking. May she rest in peace."
The SMMT wrote: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who dedicated her life to the service of the nation and the Commonwealth. She was also a lifelong supporter of the UK automotive industry, with a keen interest in and expert knowledge of many of its products. Our sector remains indebted to her and our thoughts and condolences are with The King and the Royal Family."
The BVRLA said: "We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty the Queen. We are grateful for the extraordinary service she gave to the nation over so many years and our thoughts and sympathies are with the Royal Family."
Logistics UK said: "Business group Logistics UK, its Board, staff and member businesses send their deepest condolences to the Royal family on the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. The world mourns an extraordinary woman, who dedicated her life to the service of the Nation and the Commonwealth."
Former Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: "I am deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. Her kindness, compassion and sense of humour were unmatched, and her love of this nation was inspirational."
