RoSPA Fleet Safety Awards 2021 open for registration

The RoSPA Fleet Safety Awards 2021, which recognise excellence in managing occupational road risk in all sectors, is open for registration.

The winners of the fleet trophies, part of the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, demonstrate world-leading performance in the protection of their employees and other road users.

Last year’s winners represent the diverse remit of organisations that demonstrate excellent practice in the operation of their fleets, with civil engineering company Colas Limited winning the Fleet Safety Technology Trophy, highways services business Eurovia UK picking up the Fleet Safety Trophy for the UK, and Dubai driving school Emirates Driving Institute being handed the first ever Fleet Safety Trophy for the Middle East.

The addition of the specialist award for the Middle East represents the region’s growing influence in the field of managing occupational road risk, and demonstrates the commitment of companies there to the RoSPA Awards.

In recognition of this, the RoSPA Awards – sponsored by NEBOSH – will also be hosting its first awards ceremony outside of the UK, in Dubai.

That event will take place in May (COVID-dependant) alongside the usual London, Birmingham and Glasgow ceremonies.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s executive head of awards and events, said: “We are so excited to be bringing the RoSPA Awards to Dubai in 2021, which is a reflection of our increasingly-international profile – our entrants represent more than 7million employees from 42 countries across the world – and an acknowledgement of the amazing work being done by companies in the Middle East to keep their employees safe and healthy.

“The Fleet Safety Awards help to showcase best in managing occupational road risk practice from around the world, so we’re really excited to see the standard of entries in 2021.”

As well as offering non-competitive achievement awards – in which Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merits are awarded – entrants can bid to be crowned the winner of the RoSPA Fleet Safety Trophies, and the RoSPA Fleet Safety Technology Trophy, sponsored by Tesco.

The Fleet Safety Trophies are presented to the organisations that have most effectively managed their occupational road risks over the past 12 months, in their region, while the Fleet Safety Technology Trophy is handed to the entrant that displays the most impressive use of technology within their management of road risk.

Entrants gain access to a growing, worldwide community of likeminded professionals through the Awards Excellence Forum, sponsored by HSE Recruitment – a place to share and learn from best practice, enabling the improvement of health and safety systems globally, through regular events and seminars. And those looking to gain the highest possible accolade can partner up with high-performing entrants as part of the mentorship programme.

The RoSPA Awards 2021, which mark the scheme’s 65th year, are open for registration from today (Thursday, October 1) – register before November 1 to take advantage of early-bird discounts, and there are further discounts for RoSPA members.
