London Mayor calls for 2030 ban of new fossil fuelled vehicles

During London's first Climate Change Week (1-8 July), the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has urged the government for more action to be able to achieve its net zero carbon target.

This includes ending the sale of fossil-fuelled vehicles by 2030, rather than 2040.

London Climate Action Week involves industry leaders and campaigners of all ages who are helping drive global climate innovation. Events will explore clean energy and energy efficiency, zero emission transport, adaptation and resilience, climate finance and investment, and campaigning for stronger legislation.

Sadiq Khan today has criticised government for inaction so far, saying that climate change ‘deniers’ have been replaced by the threat of climate ‘delayers’ - people who say the right things on climate change but put off action at every opportunity and in many cases actually make things worse.
