The all-new Mazda3 made its UK debut in May this year, and features an array of enhancements that bring impressive fuel economy and low emissions figures, as well as improved safety, to the compact family car market.

The all-new Mazda3 Program Manager, Yoshiyuki Maeda, says: “The new Mazda3 series takes a significant step ahead in both the realms of driving performance and environmental technology to lead the way toward a new generation of motoring.”

Safety in mind
Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control are both fitted as standard, along with Emergency Stop Signaling, which automatically activates the hazard warning lights at cruising speeds when the ABS sensors detect emergency braking. The system cancels the emergency signal when either the demand for ABS relaxes or when the brake pedal is released. Improvements to the rigidity of the subframe, and more substantial plate thickness to the engine mount brackets, improve noise reduction, vibration and harshness to a class-leading level.

I-Stop
Mazda’s approach to stop-start technology is innovative enough to enable a 16 percent lower fuel consumption figure (combined cycle) than the previous model. Available on Mazda3 2.0 Sport, the i-stop system restarts the engine with less vibration by storing the remaining energy in the combustion chamber and igniting it to force the piston movement. Combining i-stop with a DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) engine makes restarts faster, quieter and smoother than other idle-stop-start systems.

Greener by miles
Best-in-class aerodynamics help to reduce drag and further improve fuel economy up to an impressive 62.8mpg. CO2 emissions are as low as 119g/km, putting the Mazda3 1.6D in the second lowest VED bracket, costing just £35 per year to tax. A new Multi Information Display (see picture) features fuel consumption data, and vehicle maintenance and audio information at a glance.

As you walk up the range, premium level of standard specification includes a new Bluetooth® system to connect your phone and MP3 player wirelessly (TS2 and above) cruise control, rain-senstitive wipers and dusk-sensing lights. A fully-integrated satellite navigation system is also available on TS2 and Sport models.
