Europe purchases 500,000th PEV

In May, Europe’s total sales of plug-in electrified vehicles (PEV) exceeded 500,000.

The figures makes Europe number one in passenger PEVs, with the U.S. coming in second (460,000) and China third. Data shows that for the cumulative total of European major markets since PEVs began selling in 2007, Norway has sold 105,000; Netherlands about 92,600; France about 89,600; the UK over 70,000; Germany over 57,400; Sweden about 21,500; and Switzerland about 12,300.

The top-selling European countries so far for 2016 through to May include: Norway with 18,734 units; the UK with 16,056, France with 15,267; Germany with 8,783; and Sweden with 4,509 PEV sales.

The Netherlands through April is at 3,592.

Soon the world is set to buy its 1,500,000th PEV, with all EV markets beginning to increase.
