Elbnb launched to charge EVs at private homes

A platform in Sweden has been created by Renault to allow electric vehicle (EV) drivers to charge their cars in private homes, at a cost determine by the homeowner.

According to a survey by Renault, 51 per cent of Swedes view the need to recharge EVs as the biggest obstacle to purchasing an electric car. Elbnb has been launched to enable those wishing to share their electricity to register on to a website so their details can be viewed on a map, seen by other EV users. There are already 1187 private home charging points registered to the website.

The scheme is part of larger strategy to encourage and promote the uptake of EVs.
