Hyundai fuel cell taxi fleet to hit roads in Paris

A fleet of 60 Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell cars are set to hit roads in Paris, providing a low emission transport option around the French capital.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed by Hyundai and taxi start-up STEP (Société du Taxi Electrique Parisien) for 60 new ix35 Fuel Cells to replace petrol and diesel-powered cars on in circulation in and around paris.

The fleet is expected to save 800 tonnes of CO2 per year in exhaust emissions compared to diesel taxis, with the vehicles expected to cover an annual mileage of 100,000km.

Thomas A. Schmid, chief operating officer at Hyundai Motor Europe, said: “With the memorandum of today, STEP and Hyundai Motor have committed to bring 60 additional ix35 Fuel Cell taxis to the streets of Paris. Not only will the fuel cell taxis provide a clean transportation solution for the city, they are also a practical, comfortable and reliable choice for drivers and passengers.”
