Fiat launches new frugal fiat 500

News

Fiat has launched a new variant of its 500 city car model, fitted with a 1.3 litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine with lower CO2 emissions, at just 89 g/km.

The engine is reported to produce 95hp and 148 lb ft of torque and return 83.1 MPG. The new engine variant makes the 500 more suited to longer journeys, especially those which cover motorway miles between high traffic areas.

The car boasts a high fuel economy, with the low CO2 emissions figure qualifying the owner to benefit from free road tax (VED Band A), making the 500 one of the cleanest non-hybrid/electric cars on the road.

The car’s mechanics operate on high efficiency with stop/start technology, a small alternator, rapid engine warming and variable oil-pump displacement combining to result in strong economy and emissions figures.
