BMW launches new i3 with improved range

News

BMW has launched an updated version of its i3, boasting a new battery and improved range.

The BMW i3 94Ah replaces the current 60Ah model and offers an improved range of 195 miles in the standard NEDC cycle. The new battery has a capacity of 33kWh, but retains the same dimensions thanks to the higher storage density of the lithium ion cells.

DC rapid charge now comes as standard and improved power consumption at 12.6kWh/100km means a reduction in CO2 emissions.

The i3 94Ah starts from £27,830 after the Plug-in Car Grant, with a top speed of 93 miles per hour and acceleration from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds.

The new i3 is also available in the Range Extender option, which starts at £30,980 after the Plug-inCar Grant, and boasts the same 93mph top speed, but a slightly poorer acceleration from 0-62mph of 8.1 seconds.
