Dundee first council to migrate away from ChargePlace Scotland

Dundee City Council, in partnership with Evolt Charging, has completed the migration of its entire public and fleet electric vehicle charging infrastructure away from the ChargePlace Scotland (CPS) network – becoming the first local authority in Scotland to officially complete the transition.

More than 190 public and fleet EV charging points across the city were migrated to the Evolt network, including Dundee’s four rapid charging hubs, was completed by Evolt’s local teams in just two and a half weeks.

The hub is strategically situated on the A96 – Northern Scotland’s major road connecting Aberdeen to Inverness. It is also located by a coffee shop to give drivers the opportunity to enjoy a refreshment whilst they swiftly charge their cars.

The UK’s electric vehicle (EV) charging network grew by 23% in the last year, according to DfT figures.

There are now 86,021 chargers on Britain’s roads, which includes over 17,356 rapid/ultra-rapid chargers that can charge a car to 80% in just 20-40 mins.

The rapid growth – particularly in Yorkshire and the Humber, Wales, the West Midlands and East of England – means drivers can travel to popular destinations such as York Minster, Caerphilly Castle and Norwich Cathedral, knowing they can stop off and charge up easily along the way.
