New analysis of TfL data by Clean Cities has found that that cargo bike use increased across London by 104% from 2022 to 2024.

Recent research by Clean Cities has found that diesel vans are now the biggest road source of NOx emissions in central London, making Cargo bikes a key way to shift London’s deliveries to cleaner methods.

Parcel delivery company Evri has announced a further £19 million into its sustainability plans, which includes investment to fast-track the rollout out of electric cargo bikes.

The company plans to grow its fleet of e-cargo bikes from 33 to 99 within the next year - and to 3,000 over the next decade. This is expected to give Evri the UK’s biggest fleet of e-cargo bikes for parcel delivery.

The investment will also help the company grow its electric vehicles (EVs) from 168 to 270 within the next year.

After a successful nine-month trial period, courier Delivery Mates and Q-Park UK have agreed to continue to independently operate from the Pimlico micro logistics hub for a minimum of 12 months.

The Cross River Partnership (CRP) and Westminster City Council funded trial, which aimed to support low-emission last-mile deliveries, was supported by Decarbon Logistics Solutions, and carried out by Delivery Mates low-emission couriers. It was part of the Defra-funded Clean Air Logistics for London (CALL) and Smarter Greener Logistics (SGL) programmes.

FedEx Express Europe has introduced a fleet of e-cargo bikes to work alongside its vehicle pick-up and delivery fleet in Greater London.

Eight electrically assisted four-wheel delivery bikes will now operate from FedEx Express stations London City and Hornsey, where it is envisioned they will replace six conventional diesel vans and avoid an estimated 22,000 kg of CO2 emissions per year.

Parcel delivery company Evri has partnered with local cargo bike delivery firm Pedal & Post to provide carbon free deliveries to all consumers homes in Oxford’s Zero Emission Zone.

Pedal & Post will dedicate four EAV cargo bikes to deliver up to 600 parcels per day, increasing to 1,200 during Evri’s peak period. It follows Evri’s recent commitment to triple its parcel deliveries by cargo bikes to over 500,000 within the next year.

The EAV cargo bikes boast a cargo volume of 2,000 litres, a 170kg payload and generate zero emissions.
