This marks the first time both calculators have been offered by Certas Energy across all industries, where businesses can analyse their specific fuel needs for fleets, off-road vehicles and site equipment.

Retailer Tesco has added 42 new IVECO S-Way natural gas powered trucks to its fleet in Livingston, Scotland, which will be used to transport food and other goods to Tesco locations across Scotland.

These trucks are each expected to cover 200,000km per year, meaning a potential annual saving of up to 6,473 tonnes of CO2 across the fleet.

Certas Energy has partnered with Silverstone Circuit to supply Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) at some of its biggest events at the home of British motorsport.

An estimated 350,000 litres of HVO will be used for the on-site generators at the racecourse, which will power equipment like mobile kitchens, lighting, and stages for live music.

The renewable alternative diesel has been supplied for the following events: Tissot British Grand Prix MotoGP on 23-25 May, Formula 1 British Grand Prix on 3-6 July, and the Silverstone Festival on 22-24 August.

Certas Energy has announced it will expand the availability of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to more of its depots across the UK this year.

As part of an additional seven-figure sum investment, this expanded roll-out includes Whitby, Fort William, Porthmadog, Braintree, and Sheffield.

In the last two months alone, Certas Energy has grown its HVO storage and supply depot network by six, totalling 28 nationwide so far, with plans to further increase the roll-out to more depots over the coming weeks and months.

Perth and Kinross Council has switched 24 of its diesel refuse trucks to use Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

HVO is made from renewable aware and residue derived feedstocks, and can cut carbon emissions by up to 90 per cent. This makes it a simple, readily available fuel source that can be used instead of traditional fossil fuels with minimum changes required to infrastructure and equipment.

Certas Energy has launched a new fuel tank hiring initiative for its Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) product this month.

The national campaign aims to support customers for whom cost is a barrier to transitioning to low carbon fuel, while also strengthening their fuel security and offering more buying options.

Certas Energy aims to ease the transition to renewable fuel HVO, by offering a complete tank leasing solution, eliminating the need for upfront purchase.

North Ayrshire Council has announced it has switched 36 refuse collection vehicles from diesel to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

This initiative is expected to save roughly 2,529 tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 12 months. According to the Council, this equates to more than a fifth of the overall fleet-produced emissions and approximately one million litres of HVO will be consumed over the course of the year.

Sainsbury's to transform food waste into fuel

Sainsbury’s is set to transform its food waste into fuel for 30 trucks that operate from its Emerald Park distribution centre.

This is expected to save over 3,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to the yearly electricity consumption of 1,950 households.

Waste processor RenECO currently works with Sainsbury's to turn food waste that can’t be donated or used for animal feed into biogas via anaerobic digestion. This circular system will now use the output of this anaerobic digestion, the biogas, to create a liquid biofuel suitable for HGVs.
