LEVC announces £1,500 towards new TX Taxi models

LEVC has announced a new financial contribution for its TX taxi to make up for the recent reduction in the Plug-in Taxi Grant (PiTG).

The offer is a £1,500 deposit contribution for an initial period on all new TX taxi models across all finance types offered by LEVC Financial Services with zero customer deposit and at a subsidised finance rate of 10.51% APR representative.

This new offer offsets the PiTG reduction, which was reduced from £7,500 to £6,000 at the start of the month.

The government has announced that the Plug-in Taxi Grant will be extended until 5 April 2025, but has dropped the rate to £6,000 per vehicle.

The price of the grant was previously up to £7,500, and was set to expire on 31 March 2024.

The government says the Plug-in Taxi Grant has provided more than £50m to support the purchase of over 9,000 zero emission cabs since its introduction in 2017.

It says it is now targeting incentives where they have the "most impact whilst delivering value for money for the taxpayer", which is why it has been reduced.

There are now more LEVC TX electric taxis on the streets of London than diesel TX4s, the company has reported.

LEVC’s TX taxi now represents more than 40% of official black cabs, with over 6,000 vehicles operating in the capital.

Globally, LEVC electric TX taxis has travelled more than 534 million miles globally and prevented 162,000 tonnes of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere, since it was introduced in 2018, the company reports.

LEVC is marking a major milestone of 7,000 global sales of its TX electric taxi by giving Londoners the chance to hail a ride for free this week.

From today (Thursday 19th May) until Thursday 26th May, there will be three unique ‘celebration cabs’ roaming around central London. Each will be kitted out with a unique exterior, as well as a special surprise inside for passengers to enjoy, celebrating not only 7,000 global TX sales but also the upcoming Jubilee.

A new study from untied revealed a widespread concern amongst local authorities around the implementation and management of the conditionality tax checks that are due to be introduced in April 2022.

Over eight in ten say they believe that taxi and PHV operators, as well as drivers, should be preparing in advance of the forthcoming changes, but almost two thirds (73%) say that they are not confident that all operators in their area are aware of these checks.

New licensing standards for taxis and private hire vehicles (PHVs), including app-based services, have been introduced.

The new Statutory Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Standards, which local authorities will be expected to implement, are designed to improve consistency in the licensing system, reducing the risk of harm posed to children and vulnerable passengers in the process. It follows historic and serious cases of taxi and PHV drivers abusing their position of trust.

LEVC, manufacturer of the iconic black cab, is supporting cabbies to get back behind the wheel with 2,000 ‘Back to Work’ kits available for collection free of charge from LEVC’s authorised dealer network.

These provide protective PPE and cleaning equipment, designed to keep occupants safe and vehicles clean. Each kit includes 250ml sanitising gel, 750ml antiviral disinfectant spray, 40 disposable face masks, microfibre reusable cloths, anti-bacterial taxi-receipts and a 5-point pledge window sign.

The London EV Company (LEVC), makers of the new electric London taxi, has selected EO Charging as its official electric vehicle (EV) charging partner in Scotland.

LEVC owners will be offered an EO Mini Pro as part of the deal, which is eligible for the UK government's ‘Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme’ (reducing the cost of installing a charger by up to 75%).
