Half-a-million ultra low emission vehicles now on UK roads

The Department for Transport has applauded the milestone of over half-a-million ultra low emission vehicles being on UK roads.

This comes as statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that 13.6% of new cars sold in the past four months had a plug, with ultra low emission cars accounting for more than 1 in 10 sales last year, up from 1 in 30 the year before.

Fleet Alliance sees huge growth in ULEVs

Fleet Alliance Group has seen huge growth in Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs) on its funded fleet as drivers switch to greener options.

Fleet Alliance saw the number of ULEVs with carbon emissions of less than 75g/km grow by 112% in 2019, compared to 2018.

Registrations of ULEVS more than doubled as drivers looked to cut their tax bills and companies sought to reduce their corporate carbon footprint.

EV manufacturer Tesla which saw a fifty-fold increase in registrations on the Fleet Alliance fleet of 37,000 vehicles, thanks to the new Model 3.

The government is consulting on whether Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles should be equipped with green number plates to differentiate them from other cars and help promote awareness.
