Europcar partners with Octopus Electroverse for EV rentals

Europcar Mobility Group UK has teamed up with charging network Octopus Electroverse to give EV rental customers access over one million public chargers across the UK and Europe - a first of its kind partnership in the rental sector.

Available via the Europcar EV Guide, the rental company’s digital hub created to support EV renters, the app makes finding and starting a charge simple.

The number of daily rental vehicles being offered to fleets with safety issues appears to be rising, says the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP).

The AFP says it is hearing reports from members being provided with hire cars and vans in unacceptable mechanical condition.

Paul Hollick, APF chair, said: “This was a subject recently raised by our Mega Fleets Committee and appears to be a wider problem across the AFP. Essentially, we’re seeing hire vehicles being delivered to fleets that are not in a roadworthy condition.

Polestar has begun delivering new Polestar 2 electric cars to Hertz, as part of the agreement announced in April 2022, under which Polestar will supply the rental company with 65,000 cars over the next five years.

Some daily rental companies are beginning to turn down fleet business in favour of higher margin consumer bookings, the Association of Fleet Professional (AFP) is reporting.

James Pestell, AFP Director, said that businesses were finding no vehicles were available using corporate rental online portals but then discovering that if they visited a rental outlet in person, they could hire a car or van at a retail rate using a credit card.
