Third of fleet managers actively planning to use Artificial Intelligence

Almost half (48%) of UK fleet managers are either already using artificial intelligence (AI) in their fleet management or are planning to within the next five years, according to new research from Webfleet.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Webfleet, the global study was conducted among 1,800 fleet managers across 15 countries. It shows 15% are already using AI, a third (33%) actively planning to and 43% considering its adoption in the future.

UK fleet operators still think that electric vehicles (EVs) will be more influential than AI, however.

Rivian Automotive and Volkswagen Group are forming a joint venture to create next-generation electrical architecture and software technology for electric vehicles.

The partnership is anticipated to accelerate the development of software for Rivian and Volkswagen Group.

Rivian’s zonal hardware design and integrated technology platform are expected to serve as the foundation for future next generation software-defined vehicle (SDV) platforms and will be applied to both companies’ vehicles.

Lightfoot has analysed hundreds of cars in its system and found that the real-life efficiency of electric company cars has improved by 35% in the past year, due to Lightfoot's driver coaching and telematics system.

The analysis showed that average efficiency climbed from 2.75 miles per kWh in July 2022 to 3.72 miles per kWh in June 2023.
