November sees the UK host the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, to accelerate action towards climate change goals.

The UK is committed to working with all countries and joining forces with civil society, companies and people on the frontline of climate change to inspire climate action ahead of COP26, where the decarbonisation of transport will be high on the agenda.

Electric vehicle community The EV Cafe and events company Nineteen Group have partnered to launch National EV Week – a week-long celebration dedicated to electric vehicles (EVs) and the ecosystem that supports them. This includes the crucial sectors of renewables, charging infrastructure, and telematics/software.

Scheduled for 1-5 December, 2025, this annual event aims to unify the industry, accelerate dialogue, and showcase real-world solutions for the UK’s cleaner journey to net zero.

A new battery health guarantee for used electric vehicles is helping to build confidence among UK dealers and drivers, easing concerns over battery lifespan.

Motability Operations, which runs the Motability Scheme, piloted the initiative on its remarketing platform, mfldirect, offering dealers the option to independently test the battery health of any EV purchased. Vehicles found to have less than 90% battery capacity could be returned at no cost.

Toyota is leading a £30 million project to develop a new lightweight battery electric vehicle, which will see cutting-edge innovations including an integrated solar roof for enhanced energy efficiency, advanced connectivity and lightweight, sustainable materials designed for recyclability.

The £30 million project includes a £15 million grant from the government, government's DRIVE35 programme via the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC).

The project includes key partners such as the University of Derby, Elm Mobility and Savcor.

Expect Distribution to test e-HGVs under eFREIGHT project

Expect Distribution has taken delivery of its first two fully electric heavy goods vehicles as part of the eFREIGHT 2030 project, a government–funded demonstrator project to kickstart the uptake of zero emission HGVs.

The two vehicles – a Renault Trucks E-Tech T 4x2 tractor unit with sleeper cab and a Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide rigid with curtainsider body - are the first fully electric trucks to join Expect Distribution’s fleet of more than 100 HGVs. Both vehicles are based at the company’s Woodlands distribution hub in Bradford.
