November sees the UK host the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, to accelerate action towards climate change goals.

The UK is committed to working with all countries and joining forces with civil society, companies and people on the frontline of climate change to inspire climate action ahead of COP26, where the decarbonisation of transport will be high on the agenda.

Renault is launching three electric LCVs at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2025, which are the first to feature the flexible, scalable architecture developed by Ampere around the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV).

National Highways orders over 50 more Toyota electric vehicles

National Highways has placed an order for over 50 electric vehicles from Toyota, as part of its aim to make its corporate emissions net zero by 2030.

The order consists of 18 Proace vans and a further 40 bZ4X, following on from the 50 Toyota bZ4X electric SUVs that were delivered to National Highways in 2024.

A key goal within National Highways' net zero target is for all of its non-traffic officer light vehicles to be electric by 2027.

Toyota gave hundreds of Uber drivers the chance to test drive its growing electric model range at Brands Hatch race circuit in Kent.

The showcase event, hosted by One Toyota Fleet Services, strengthened a relationship with the ride hailing business that has seen almost 2,000 drivers move to a Toyota or Lexus electric vehicle through the Uber Driver Scheme in the past six months. The initiative supports Uber’s actions towards becoming a zero emission mobility platform in the UK by 2030.

Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sales in March 2025 rose a massive 43.2%, the SMMT has reported, making March the largest month ever for registrations of electric cars.

69,313 new cars reached the road as manufacturers delivered more zero emission vehicles to drivers during the new ‘25 plate’ month, which usually accounts for around 16% of annual registrations and, as such, provides a strong indicator of likely overall annual performance.

Meanwhile, hybrid electric vehicles and plug in hybrids rose too - 27.7% and 37.9% respectively.
