£1 million fund for projects that enable active travel

Organisations and businesses can bid for a share of £1 million in funding to help them to enable more active travel, such as walking, wheeling or cycling, Active Travel England (ATE) has announced.

The Active Travel Innovation Fund is inviting applications from small to medium-sized businesses and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), with grants of up to £100,000 available for each successful project.

England’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure is overlooking disabled drivers, a new report from independent watchdog, Transport Focus, has found.

The watchdog is therefore calling for the Government to outline its plan for how, and when, an accessible EV charging infrastructure will be delivered.

Despite the government’s transition to zero emissions vehicles and ZEV mandate, there are no chargers on England’s motorways and major ‘A’ roads that have been accredited with the voluntary standards for accessible charging.

Uber has launched an exclusive offer for its drivers in London, giving EV drivers 50% off tyres specifically engineered for popular electric vehicles like the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.

ENSO tyres are now rolling out to Uber EV drivers via the Uber Marketplace app, giving Uber EV drivers direct access to more affordable EV tyres.

ENSO, an Earthshot Prize Finalist, produces tyres that increase EV range, reduce tyre pollution, and last longer than standard alternatives, delivering both environmental and economic benefits to Uber drivers.

More than a third of UK councils do not provide any on-street electric vehicle (EV) charging suitable for disabled drivers, according to new Freedom of Information (FOI) research by Vauxhall.

111 of the 289 councils who responded to Vauxhall said they have no on-street charge points that have either been specifically adapted for disabled drivers, or any that follow the British Standards Institution’s PAS 1899:2022, a national accessible charging standard co-sponsored by the Motability Foundation and UK Government.

The first of four shared eMobility eHubs at Westside Library Car Park in Galway City has been opened through a project by Trinity College Dublin, Atlantic Technological University (ATU), ESB and Enterprise Car Club,

Newcastle City Council has launched a new car club offering Newcastle businesses and residents access to pay-as-you-go vehicle hire from a range of locations across the city.

Vehicles are provided by Enterprise Car Club from designated parking bays in the city centre and in residential areas. The car club enables people to hire a low-emission car by the hour and the day, with vehicles available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
