Electric mobility hub opens in Galway City for greener staff travel

The first of four shared eMobility eHubs at Westside Library Car Park in Galway City has been opened through a project by Trinity College Dublin, Atlantic Technological University (ATU), ESB and Enterprise Car Club,

Additional eHubs will open at sites in Dundrum, Letterkenny and Waterford over the coming months.

Newcastle City Council has launched a new car club offering Newcastle businesses and residents access to pay-as-you-go vehicle hire from a range of locations across the city.

Vehicles are provided by Enterprise Car Club from designated parking bays in the city centre and in residential areas. The car club enables people to hire a low-emission car by the hour and the day, with vehicles available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Uber strikes electric vehicle deal with BYD

BYD and Uber have agreed a deal that aims to bring 100,000 of its electric vehicles (EVs) on to the its platform.

Beginning first in Europe and Latin America, the partnership is expected to offer drivers access to "best-in-class" pricing and financing for BYD vehicles on the Uber platform, and will expand to include markets across the Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The companies aim to bring down the total cost of EV ownership for Uber drivers, accelerating the uptake of EVs on the Uber platform globally.

The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Defence, has worked with Enterprise Mobility to offer its staff car club access to enhance the sustainability of its business travel.

Nearly 100 Enterprise Car Club vehicles are now deployed on-site at three locations in Wiltshire and Hampshire, making DSTL's car club one of the largest on-site business car club fleets in the UK.

Europcar has taken on 25 electric MG4s for its Delivery & Collection service, which takes the company towards its target to achieve 25% of all Delivery & Collection miles in electric vehicles.

Information around how to safely purchase, charge and use e-bikes and e-scooters has been published by the government.

Following extensive consultation with industry, guidance on battery safety for both e-scooters and e-bikes will raise awareness for owners on how to safely purchase an e-cycle or e-scooter, ensure it meets manufacturing requirements and is only bought from reputable sellers. The documents also cover safe storage and charging, the warning signs for fire risk and how to address them, and how to dispose of batteries responsibly.
