David Lloyd entering the EV market with new venture

News

Known for his chain of leisure centres, David Lloyd is eying a move into the electric vehicle (EV) market with a new venture called ‘EV Hub’.

The new company plans to open a network of EV charging centres across the country, and Simon Lloyd, CEO of EV Hubs, has said he intends to open more than 30 by 2020.

EV Hubs are aiming to be a viable alternative to what it describes as ’rip off’ motorway service stations and will have between  10 and 20 rapid charging bays, as well as customer lounge areas for drivers to relax while their vehicle charges.

Each hub will reportedly feature an easy pay as you go payment facility that will accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as an EV Hub membership scheme with added customer benefits.

The headquarters for the new company will reportedly by in Cambridge and will shortly be launching a crowdfunding campaign to get the new project off of the ground.
