Energy Saving Trust launches free fleet consultancy service

News

The Energy Saving Trust (EST) has launched a free fleet consultancy service designed to help organisations improve the sustainability of their fleets.

The service is funded by the Department for Transport and is aimed at SMEs with a fleets of 20-100 vehicles. Organisations will be given advice on how to improve fuel and mileage management, review car and driver policies and reduce grey fleet usage. Additionally, The EST will look to optimise the use of fuel efficient, clean vehicles using whole-life cost analysis.

Andrew Benfield, director of transport at EST, said: “There are 480,000 English SMEs responsible for 2.4m vehicles on our roads – a small difference here can make huge difference to the environment, but perhaps more importantly for business owners, to the amount spent on fuelling the country’s businesses.

“In fact, something as simple as providing fuel efficiency training for drivers has been shown to cut consumption by 15 per cent straight away. Even if old habits return, a long-term five per cent improvement in fuel economy is still more than possible. When you take that saving across a number of vehicles, no matter the size of your fleet, the savings become even more substantial.”
