Tree planting part of green initiative from YourParkingSpace.co.uk

Online parking portal YourParkingSpace.co.uk is planting a tree for every monthly booking on its website.

This follow's the firm's involvement in Earth Day, where the firm pledged to plant a tree for all bookings that were made on that day, including daily and monthly bookings, resulting in nearly 3,500 trees taking root via Trees for the Future.

Now almost 10,000 trees have been planted since the launch of the monthly booking initiative, offsetting the carbon generated by approximately 900,000 miles of driving.

Meanwhile, YourParkingSpace.co.uk research also discovered that its customers saved a combined total of 132 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) - the equivalent amount that would be made burning 53 tonnes of coal - by driving straight to their reserved parking space over the last year.

Harrison Woods, managing director at YourParkingSpace.co.uk, said: “The successful involvement of YourParkingSpace.co.uk in Earth Day has provided further inspiration to help plant more trees by pledging one tree for every monthly booking received. I hope it won’t be long before we’ve helped plant enough trees to grow a forest and help offset the carbon generated by driving.

“Green-thinking motorists can also help save the planet by pre-booking a parking space, rather than driving around trying to find an empty spot as this reduces CO2 emissions.”
