Chevin Fleet Solutions – 29 years of fleet management software innovation
Established in 1990 in Belper, a small Derbyshire town in the heart of England, Chevin was founded by Ashley Sowerby, the company’s managing director. After buying the rights to a simple fleet system that he was developing for his then-employer, Sowerby embarked on his own business venture at the young age of 21.
Today, Chevin Fleet Solutions is the leading global provider of dedicated fleet management solutions, and its multi award-winning software – FleetWave – is used in more than 180 countries worldwide, to manage in excess of 1.2m vehicles and associated assets.
Born from humble beginnings in the United Kingdom, Chevin is now a Global company with offices in North America, Belgium, France and Australia. Its products are also sold by distribution partners in Africa and the UAE.
Chevin’s client base includes some of the world’s largest, most reputable organisations across multiple industry sectors, from major OEMs, construction and utilities to government, non-profit and emergency services.

Chevin’s Green Fleet:
Since joining the Go Ultra Low scheme just over two years ago, Chevin made a commitment to ensure that at least 5 per cent of its fleet was electric by 2020. The software specialist has, however, surpassed its target confirming that 40 per cent of its vehicles now meet the green fleet credentials.
The first electric vehicle that joined the fleet was managing director Ashley Sowerby’s Tesla Model S. A supporter of low emission vehicles and an advocate of the green agenda, Chevin has invested in an improved corporate car scheme, charge points and solar power energy to encourage the rest of the organisation to think greener.
The vehicles can be charged on-site with green electricity generated through solar panels mounted on the roof of its UK head office. Eight charging points have been installed on-site, and plans are in place to add further capacity as other diesel vehicles are phased out over time.
Talking on the initiative, he said:
“We all responsible for the environment and due to technological enhancements, greater choice and growing support from the government, the barriers to alternatively fueled vehicles are reducing.”
