DHL Supply Chain will be rolling out HVO fuel across the majority of its on-site fuelling stations throughout the UK, enabling DHL to assess operational processes and the performance of the fuel.

With installation scheduled for completion by the end of the year, transitioning to HVO fuel will deliver 80-90% carbon savings compared to diesel; with an estimated total of 15,000 tonnes of CO2e savings being expected to be delivered.

ReFuels has opened a renewable biomethane refuelling station for HGVs – the first of its kind in Wales. With 12 pumps, the site is capable of refuelling over 500 HGVs daily with renewable biomethane – derived from food waste and manure.

Renewable biomethane is derived from food waste and manure. It is the lowest carbon, most cost-effective alternative fuel to diesel available to HGVs today, cutting emissions by over 90% whilst providing up to 40% lifetime fuel cost savings.

Bio-LNG supplier Gasrec has announced several new deals to strengthen the resilience of its supply chain as the company prepares for considerable expansion over the next few years, with three new refuelling locations to open before the end of Q1 2024.

Earlier this year, the business reported an all-time sales spike for biomethane across the road transport sector, a trend which is expected to keep rising with more gas-powered trucks being put onto the UK’s roads than ever before.

DHL is introducing its first truck fleet running on biofuel to provide logistics support to Formula 1®, helping it in its goal of becoming Net Zero by 2030.

Eighteen new trucks, capable of running on HVO100 drop-in fuel (hydrotreated vegetable oil), will be delivering at all European Formula 1 races in 2023. By doing so, each truck can reduce carbon emissions of minimum 60% when compared to standard fuels, with great potential for higher savings.

CNG Fuels has announced it will acquire a majority stake in renewable biomethane sourcing company, Renewable Transport Fuel Services Limited (RTFS).

A new holding company, ReFuels has been established to better reflect the growing scope of the business. ReFuels combines CNG Fuels’ UK network of public access Bio-CNG refuelling stations with RTFS’s upstream biomethane sourcing activities to create one of Europe’s largest fully integrated renewable biomethane suppliers for heavy transport.

Green NCAP has released the ratings of six cars that were tested with two different fuels: standard E10 petrol and almost pure E85 bioethanol.

The cars were the Kia Sportage 1.6 T-GDI equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system; the Mercedes‑Benz T‑Class T180; the Land Rover Range Rover D350; Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost Mild Hybrid and finally the Ford Puma 1.0 EcoBoost Flexifuel.

The test results show that bioethanol has considerable benefits for the overall reduction of greenhouse gases and global impact on the environment.
