Volkswagen considering multi-billion-euro battery factory

Volkswagen is considering the construction of it’s own multi-billion-euro battery factory, according to reports from Handelsblatt.
The report suggests that the move could come as part of the manufacturers plans to focus on electro-mobility following the fallout from the recent ‘dieselgate’ scandal.
Volkswagen reportedly wants to increase electric vehicle (EV) sales to one million by 2025, and the development of a battery factory could allow the german manufacturer to operate independently of firms like Panasonic, LG and Samsung who currently develop a large proportion of EV batteries.
