Route Monkey and Sygic to develop EV fleet solution

News

Route optimisation specialist Route Monkey has signed a new partnership agreement with GPS navigation firm Sygic to develop an integrated route optimisation and navigation solution.

The new solution will be the first fully integrated product of its kind for electric vehicles (EVs), and will see Route Monkey schedule both EVs and conventional vehicles to optimise the fleet as a whole.

Route Monkey algorithms and optimisers will be utilised by the Sygic Navigation app, which is currently used by more than 1,500 fleets worldwide. This will allow the app to send the best route for the entire itinerary to each driver, as well as schedule stops at charge points on route to top-up the batteries and provide real-time navigation to recharging stations.

Colin Ferguson, CEO of Route Monkey, said: “Navigation tools for EV users have been around for a few years now. However, our integrated solution takes this concept to a whole new level. By partnering with Sygic, we can optimise an entire fleet, including EVs, plus provide navigation that is specifically tailored to EVs within that fleet.”

Martin Strigac, director of Sygic Business Solutions, said: “We are more than happy and proud that we can participate in this very interesting innovation together with our partner Route Monkey.

“Based on our research and analysis, mixed fleets consisting of EVs and conventional vehicles will soon play an important role in fleet telematics. In combination with our Sygic Professional Navigation and Sygic FleetWork the planning, driving and operational management of EVs will be much easier, more efficient and transparent.”
