Largest ever EV fleet to serve ‘Renault-Nissan Alliance’

The Renault-Nissan Alliance is set to contribute 200 electric vehicles (EVs) onto the streets of Paris next month as part of the 21st annual Conference of Parties (COP21) climate change conference.

The commitment makes it the largest EV fleet to be present at an international conference.

Over 400,000 km are expected to be covered with no tail-pipe emissions from the EV fleet. Renault and Nissan will transport around 20,000 delegates from 195 countries around Paris for the COP21. The conference will be encouraging discussion about what can be done worldwide to tackle climate change.

The team involves 400 drivers, consisting of 200 professionals and 200 volunteers from Renault and Nissan, who will be driving the Renault Zoe, Nissan Leaf and Nissan e-NV200 models. These include the supermini, family hatch and the seven-seat MPV range marking the first time the U.N. will use a zero-emission or 100 per cent electric fleet for its passenger shuttle service.

Carlos Ghosn, chairman and CEO of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, said: “Electric vehicles are a practical and affordable mode of transportation. At the same time, they offer a solution for drastically reducing tailpipe CO2 emissions.

“They also reduce regulated exhaust pollutants, helping us to improve the air quality in our cities. Together, the public and private sectors can accelerate the transition to a zero-emission society.”
