New plug-in BMW models revealed

BMW has revealed details of its next-generation X3, with a pure-electric SUV already considered for the future.

According to Next Green Car, a more frugal and cleaner diesel will join the X3 range, before an i-Performance PHEV model and all-electric option arrives in the next year or so.

Currently, there is no further information on the electric options and the car will not launch until November this year.

The X3 EV is expected in 2019, but the PHEV option is likely to arrive in 2018, probably using the same powertrain set-up as found in the 330e and 530e plug-in models.

Further details of the electrified models will be available at a later date. Until then, the new X3 will go on sale from 11 November.
