HERE collaborates with Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz for vehicle sensor data

HERE has announced a collaboration with Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz to collect vehicle sensor data to inform its services.
HERE believes in greater collaboration within the automotive industry and will use real-time sensor data generated from the manufacturers’ connected vehicles for its open location platform, which will offer drivers a real-time depiction of the road environment.
Drivers will be able to access timely insight into the driving experience through four services – HERE Real-Time Traffic, HERE Hazard Warnings, HERE Road Signs and HERE On-Street Parking – to provide updates on things like potential road hazards, traffic updates and on-street parking.
Starting with Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, HERE hopes to expand to other manufacturers to improve data analysis and maximise the potential of connected cars and the development of autonomous vehicles.
