PSA Peugeot Citroen launch eco-driving centre

News

The PSA Peugeot Citroen group is set to launch an eco-driving and test centre outside its headquarters in Paris, to coincide with the COP 21 climate change conference.

The group has also claimed it will announce real-work fuel economy figures at the event, which runs until 11 December. Overall, 18 electric, hybrid and low emission petrol and diesel models from Peugeot, Citroen and DS Automobiles will be on the Avenue de la Grane-Armée in the middle of the French capital.

The brands have sent out 100,000 invitations in addition to allowing members of the public to take part. Participants will be given the chance to test the vehicles on a 20 minute circuit while receiving eco-driving advice from instructors to improve their own fuel efficiency.

PSA Peugeot Citroen has the lowest average CO2 emissions across its range, standing at 105.5 g/km. Significant vehicles which have helped with this achievement will be made available to drive, including the likes of the Peugeot iOn, Citroen C-Zero and Berlingo electric vehicles.

Carlos Tavares, chairman of the managing board of PSA Peugeot Citroën, said: "This innovative initiative is a clear demonstration that a carmaker and independent NGOs can reach agreement for the benefit of customer information. This will also highlight the advanced technologies that PSA Peugeot Citroën is developing to contribute to fuel efficiency."

Jos Dings, Director at independent European environment body T&E, said: "Real world measurements of CO2 emissions and fuel economy will help drivers choose the most efficient models benefiting consumers, public health and the environment. We are confident that the work we plan to undertake with PSA can generate transparent robust results that everyone can rely on."
