Date set for Zero Emission Vehicle Summit

The Department for Transport has announced September 11 as the date for the inaugural Zero Emission Vehicle Summit.

Intitially announced at last year's One Planet Summit in Paris, the Department said the summit will bring together policy makers, industry experts, and opinion formers from around globe to tackle carbon emissions from road transport and identify new ways to improve air quality.

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling said:

"This ground-breaking event shows Britain leading the way in developing the new technology that will create new jobs and help improve the air we breathe. And with a proud history in pioneering vehicle manufacturing, Birmingham is exactly the right location to showcase the innovations of the future."

The summit will form part of the Cenex-LCV exhibition, which will be held at Millbrook Proving Grounds on 12th September 2018.

The announcements come ahead of the launch of the government's long awaited Road to Zero strategy, which is expected to set out how Ministers envisage the UK meeting the government's target of ending sales of petrol and diesel cars by 2040.
